Stories That Move Us.
The Mound City Film Festival is a celebration of film, art, music, food, adventure, and community, rooted in St. Louis and the Midwest.
We believe some of the most powerful stories are the ones that connect us to a place — its people, rivers, trails, neighborhoods, landscapes, culture, and communities. Mound City was created to bring those stories together, giving filmmakers, artists, musicians, outdoor enthusiasts, and audiences a place to connect, discover new perspectives, and celebrate the creativity that exists throughout our region.
More Than a Film Festival
Mound City is designed as an experience rather than simply a series of film screenings. Throughout the day, audiences can discover regional films and acclaimed Mountainfilm selections, hear live music from St. Louis artists, experience environmental art and live demonstrations, participate in outdoor and climbing activities, enjoy local food and beverages, and engage with filmmakers, artists, and community leaders.
Our Regional Filmmaker Showcase puts a spotlight on St. Louis and Midwest storytellers whose work explores subjects ranging from conservation and environmental restoration to outdoor recreation, the Mississippi River, trails, community, and the people who are working to make a difference.
At the same time, our partnership with Mountainfilm brings a broader collection of adventure, environmental, and human-interest stories to St. Louis — creating a conversation between the stories being told here at home and those being told around the world.
Rooted in St. Louis
Mound City is intentionally built around the people and organizations that make St. Louis such a creative and connected community.
Our festival brings together local filmmakers, musicians, artists, chefs, outdoor organizations, community radio, breweries, media partners, nonprofits, and businesses. From live glass demonstrations and climbing experiences to community radio DJs, local food, live music, filmmaker panels, and conversations about the places we love, every part of the festival reflects the energy and character of our region.
Hosted at Atomic by Jamo in The Grove, Mound City is designed to feel like a neighborhood gathering — a place where people can spend the day, move from one experience to another, meet new people, and discover something they didn't expect.
The Midwest Has Stories to Tell
At its heart, Mound City exists because we believe the Midwest has incredible stories to tell.
Stories about the landscapes that surround us.
Stories about the people who protect them.
Stories about adventure and discovery.
Stories about art, music, culture, and community.
Stories about where we've been and where we're going.
We want to create a space where those stories can be seen, heard, shared, and celebrated.
Film. Art. Music. Food. Adventure. Community.
One day. One city. Endless stories.
